IMPORTANT LENS TIPS

Proper Contact Lens Care

Contact lenses are safe and widely used, but poor care can increase the risk of eye infection and discomfort.

Most problems happen due to:

  • Poor hygiene
  • Overwearing lenses
  • Water exposure (swimming, showering, etc.)
  • Incorrect cleaning or storage

The good news: most risks are preventable with proper daily habits.

Basic Lens Care Routine (Must Follow)

Before handling lenses

  • Wash hands with soap and water
  • Dry with a clean, lint-free towel
  • Avoid touching lenses with wet or dirty hands

Cleaning (for reusable lenses)

  • Always rub and rinse lenses with solution
  • Soak them in fresh solution overnight
  • Never skip cleaning, even if solution says “no-rub”

Storage rules

  • Always use fresh solution (never reuse old solution)
  • Never “top up” old solution in the case
  • Do not use water (tap, bottled, or saliva)
  • Keep solution bottle clean and tightly closed

Lens case care

  • Rinse with fresh solution only (not water)
  • Air dry after each use
  • Replace every 1–3 months
  • Do not use cracked or dirty cases

Important Safety Rules

  • Do not wear lenses while swimming or in a hot tub
  • Remove lenses if sleeping is not allowed for your lens type
  • Do not store lenses for long periods without re-disinfecting
  • Do not transfer solution into small travel bottles

Eye Safety Warning Signs

Remove lenses immediately and seek advice if you experience:

  • Redness
  • Pain or irritation
  • Blurry vision
  • Excess tearing or discharge
  • Light sensitivity

Eye Health Tips

  • Do not wear lenses when you are sick or have eye irritation
  • Avoid decorative lenses from unlicensed sellers
  • Do not smoke (increases risk of eye complications)
  • Get regular eye check-ups (at least once a year)

Reminder

Contact lens prescriptions expire because your eyes can change over time.
Regular eye exams ensure:

  • Correct prescription
  • Healthy eyes
  • Safe lens usage
